SPECIAL REPORT
PRELUDE

ARCHITECTURE IS ONE OF OUR MOST FUNDAMENTAL PURSUITS. ONE MUST EAT AND ONE MUST HAVE SHELTER. Shelters are therefore more important than paintings and sculptures.

Constructing a building is one of our primary acts of creation. I believe that architecture for the people should be lively and joyful – every building has to be sculpted with colour and thought. People have to be happy about the space they dwell in.

I had a chance to meet Mr. T. Khareghat, the well-known architect, who not only creates thoughtful buildings but who is also a painter in his own right. His captivating buildings with lucid features are symbols of urban India’s new self-confidence. The clean neat lines and the symmetrical geometry of his buildings bring so much joy to their users! His paintings are full of pathos and emotions though – he believes in simplicity and honesty.

I firmly believe that spaces should be inviting and interactive. Great buildings are great symphonies – or finely-honed quartets – every part is in tune with a greater whole…

Kudos to the wholeness of architecture!
