YOUR CONTRIBUTION MIGHT NOT SEEM TO matter, but look at it as one among a million similar contributions, and you will realize that you can move mountains!

Yes, we can make a difference…

All of us need to be aware of our earth. We all read about global warming. We all know that we are abusing the earth. Why can’t we be more responsible?

Let us look at the facts. The Gangotri glacier recedes 23 metres each year. New research shows that if current warming trends continue, the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets will melt soon and lead to the sea-level rising by 20 feet. 10 percent of the world’s population (about 643 million people) lives in coastal areas. Coastal regions are at great risk if the sea-level rises. Ecologists have already warned us that if we don’t take care, more than a million species of animals will be extinct by 2050.

As Dr. R. K. Pachauri, the chairman of the official IPCC (Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change), has said, all of us must start making changes in our lifestyles before 2012, or it will be too late.

We are all artists in our own right – what we do in the coming years will determine our future. We have to set the framework. Every little thing makes a difference. We can fly less than we do; use energy-efficient light bulbs; buy local, fresh, non-processed food. We can buy organic products at shops; swap PCs for Laptops; buy wood-burning stoves instead of microwave ovens; and we can – and must – conserve electricity.

It’s our world...
Let’s heal it.
I know the bigger picture seems daunting but we have to start somewhere...
So, let’s not give up.
